About This Project

Rowing Innovation and Sports Engineering, RISE for short, is the TU Delft Dreamteam that deals with rowing. This young team of TU Delft students from different faculties, including mechanical, maritime and aerospace engineering, but also from industrial design aims to create world’s fastest cox less quad rowing shell by improving the technical aspects of a traditional racing shell. This is done by replacing the normal riggers for sliding ones and fitting the hull with hydrofoils, in order to lift the entire boat out of the water. Our goal is to set a new world record on a 2 km stretch, beating the world’s best men’s 8 by technology and innovation. Our dream is a new competition within rowing where innovation and engineering are pushed to their max, combined with the physical and mental aspects that always are present in rowing.
